Gold, selling and levels

What a bird sells for, what the upgrades cost, and how much fame each player level needs.

Selling price

The Sell button in a bird's details shows the full breakdown. The price is:

base = round( 0.5 x average of the 9 stats + 0.3 x best stat ) price = round( base x rarity multiplier ) + 4 x wins + 1 x (wins of the sire + wins of the dam)
Rarity multiplier (for a mixed bird: the average of its breeds, weighted by their share)

Uncommonx1.5220G
Rarex2.5600G
Epicx41,500G
Legendaryx74,000G
Mythicx1210,000G
  • A "win" is a 1st place in a race or a tournament division. Each is worth only 4G (and 1G for each win of a parent), so wins barely change the price.
  • For a mixed bird the multiplier is weighted by its breed shares: 75% Janssen (x1.5) and 25% Houben (x2.5) is x1.75.
  • The same price applies when you sell a stray you caught, a bird that came home to a full loft, or a lost bird.

Fame and player level

Your level grows slowly at first and then faster, so every level costs more fame than the one before.

fame needed for level L = 55 x (L - 1) ^ 1.5 level = 1 + floor( (fame / 55) ^ (2/3) )
Level251015203045
Fame554401,4852,8814,5558,58916,052

Fame comes only from placing in races (30 / 20 / 10 for the top three, 3 up to 10th, halved in ordinary races, at most 22 a game day) and in tournaments (up to 60 a shop week). Selling and breeding give none.

Worked examples

Example 1: how fast can level 15 come?

The fastest possible: 22 fame every game day from racing and the full 60 a week from tournaments is about 30.6 a day. Level 15 needs 2,881 fame, so about 94 game days, which is 3 hours 8 minutes at the normal clock. With racing alone (22 a day) it is 131 days, or 4 hours 22 minutes. In practice nobody wins every race, so expect longer. Level 45 needs 16,052 fame: at least 525 days (17.5 hours) with both, 730 days (24 hours) with racing alone.

Example 2: is breeding for the shop worth it?

A Janssen chick with average stats is worth about 80G, and raising a clutch takes 54 days of nest time, so selling plain chicks is not a business. The money is in racing, or in a rare bird: a Hooymans chick from two mythic parents sells for up to about 800G.

Example 3: buy or breed for a rare bird?

A mythic bird costs 10,000G and sells back for about 840G, a loss of more than 90%. Birds are not an investment; buy the ones you will race or breed.
